Fall professional development opportunities announced
Penn State Lehigh Valley Continuing Education has announced its schedule of professional development courses for the fall. These courses, which begin on Sept. 5, are offered to professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds who desire to sharpen their skills by earning a professional certificate or sitting for industry specific credentialing.
The following programs are being offered:
Contemporary Leadership Series – Each of the courses in this four part series explores the issues of supervision and management and the skills required to be successful. The courses can be taken individually or as a series to maximize professional growth and continue building lifelong leadership skills.
Principles of Inventory Management (APICS – The Association for Operations Management curriculum) – Part of a five-course series, Principles of Inventory Management can provide principles, techniques and terminology related to inventory management to participants who are new to materials and operations management, as well as those with a fundamental understanding of basic concepts.
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Review – We will offer two distinct FE Review courses: one geared toward professionals taking the October 2013 exam and an FE Civil Review course for those taking the newly formatted exam in 2014.
Project Management Certificate and PMP Boot Camp – These programs are geared toward project managers who wish to become familiar with and/or master PMI (Project Management International) terminology, concepts and calculations. Penn State Lehigh Valley is a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP).
SHRM Essentials® of Human Resource Management and SHRM Learning System – These courses are offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. They cover the role of human resources in business at both the entry level and the certification level.
