Campus to open new art gallery
Penn State Lehigh Valley will celebrate the opening of its new art gallery with an exhibit featuring the artistic architecture of Howard Kulp and Howard Kulp Architects, P.C. The exhibit will run from September 16-November 14, 2010, and is sponsored by TC Salon Spa. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on September 16.
The inaugural exhibit will feature photographic images by Steve Wolfe, computer-generated fly-bys, models, and drawings of some of Howard Kulp Architect's most artistic designs, many of which will be recognizable to the Lehigh Valley community, where Kulp has based his business for more than three decades. Among the examples are images of TC Salon Spa’s new Allentown location, Melt, the modern Italian eatery located at the Promenade Shops in Saucon Valley, the AAA East Penn building in Allentown, Rodale Press in Emmaus, and the new Penn State Lehigh Valley library.
"I have always approached architectural design with the idea that you can create something beautiful, even artistic, using science and math," says Kulp, a Penn State alumnus.
“Howard Kulp has made an art out of giving of his time and talent to the Lehigh Valley and specifically Penn State Lehigh Valley’s new campus. It is fitting to celebrate the opening of this gallery space by also celebrating the creativity and beauty of Howard's, and his firm's, work," says Ann Lalik, curator of the exhibit.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. The gallery is located on the third floor of the campus at 2809 Saucon Valley Road, Center Valley, and it is open Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-9:45 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
