Psychology club to host speaker about Veterans Sanctuary
The Psychology Club will host a presentation by Robert Csandl, director of the Veterans Sanctuary in Allentown, from 12:15-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, in room 135 at the campus in Center Valley. The event is free and open to the public.
Csandl will discuss the Veterans Sanctuary, a community-based treatment center currently under development that will be dedicated to serving the veteran and providing support for families. It will be the first center of its kind in Pennsylvania to specifically treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other related disorders among Pennsylvania's military veterans. The facility will be located on 5th St. in Allentown under the direction of Treatment Trends, Inc., a private, non-profit that has been assisting the community with issues of addiction, crime, and violence through licensed inpatient and outpatient programs since 1972.
Csandl will also discuss a similar veterans treatment community called Samaritan Village in Manhattan, New York, and will offer ideas for student volunteer opportunities.
