Final examinations may be given only during the special final examination period at a time and place assigned by the Office of the Registrar. For the Fall Semester 2015, that special final examination period will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015, and will end at 8:00 p.m. on December 17, 2015. (Friday, December 18, 2015 has been reserved as a weather make-up day if needed.)
Final examinations are 110 minutes in length. No changes in the meeting period for final examinations will be authorized.
No examinations, except quizzes and narrowly limited tests in support of classroom instruction worth no more than ten percent, are to be given during the fifteenth week of the semester. All undergraduate (including 400-level, but excluding laboratory) courses are to give a final examination except where a viable alternate (e.g. term paper, final project report, studio project, take-home examination) is used. In the latter case, the alternate cannot be required to be submitted earlier than the first day of the final examination period.
The final examination need not be comprehensive but must be given during the final examination period.
Filing for Conflicts
Any student with two or more final examinations at the same meeting period MUST request a Conflict Examination. Any student with three or more final examinations on the same day MAY request a Conflict Examination. A Conflict Examination will be scheduled in either case.
To request a Conflict Examination, tell each of your instructors. They will resolve the conflict for you in a mutually agreeable manner. Talk to your instructors now. Do not delay. You must have examination conflicts resolved by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015.
